The reverse lead magnet
Find an unanswered request. Make the useful resource people were promised, and offer your own version.
Is this a fit?
Try it when
Your buyers already ask for specific resources in niche LinkedIn conversations.
Skip it when
You cannot make a genuinely useful original resource, or the thread rules prohibit promotion.
Your first test
- Find one public conversation where people are asking for a useful resource. Confirm the gap; a delayed reply is not proof of a broken promise.
- Build your own concise checklist or example. Credit any inspiration and never redistribute someone else’s private lead magnet.
- Reply with a useful excerpt. Offer the full version and ask before sending a DM.
- Record opted-in conversations and whether the resource leads to a relevant business discussion.
A starting template
I put together my own [resource] for [specific problem]. Here’s the most useful part: [insight]. Happy to share the full version if helpful.

Measure
Qualified conversations per hour spent creating and distributing the resource.
When to pause
After ten relevant, permission-based offers with no useful replies, revisit the topic before making another resource.
